The outgoing Libyan National Unity Government announced the decision to exempt Palestinian citizens from all fees related to visas and residency in Libya, in accordance with Resolution No. 289 of 1987, in support of the Palestinian cause.

The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed its deep thanks and appreciation to Libya, praising its role in supporting the Palestinian people and their efforts towards achieving their independence and establishing their state.

The National Unity Government also affirmed Libya’s commitment to treating members of the Palestinian community in Libya in the same way as Libyan citizens, within the framework of its continued care for them.

Libyan-Palestinian relations witnessed fundamental changes after 2011, as Libyan financial aid to the Palestinian cause decreased due to the difficult political and economic conditions in Libya, and funding for some Palestinian projects that were funded by Libya also stopped.
