The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation plenipotentiary of the Libyan government, Abdelhadi Al-Hawij, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Niger and his counterpart in Burkina Faso, to discuss the latest political developments in the Sahel and Sahara countries.
Al-Hawij and his accompanying delegation met in the Nigerian capital, Niamey, with Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Zein, and conveyed to him a message from Libyan Prime Minister Osama Hammad and invited him to visit the city of Benghazi. The media office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Libyan government explained that the meeting dealt with ways to strengthen and develop bilateral relations between Libya and Niger and touched on the opening of a consulate of the Republic of Niger in the city of Sabha and another in the city of Benghazi. Al-Hawij had earlier met with Nigerien Foreign Minister Abari Sinkar, and the meeting touched on enhancing bilateral cooperation in several fields.
Al-Hawij later discussed with Burkina Faso Foreign Minister bilateral relations between the two countries. The Libyan minister congratulated Niger and Burkina Faso on the lifting of the blockade imposed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
During the meetings, they discussed ways to enhance cooperation and coordinate efforts between the three countries in the political and economic fields.
