The Libyan authorities, through the Ministry of Interior, have begun to take drastic measures to stop the escalation of the violence in the sports stadiums.
The Libyan Football Association received an official correspondence from the ministry, demanding a limit on the number of fans allowed to enter to watch the league matches, in an attempt to curb recent stadium abuses, including attacks on referees by fans and administrators.
The Libyan Football Association published the content of the correspondence on its official Facebook account, confirming the authorities’ directives to allow the attendance of sports fans according to specific numbers with the application of appropriate security measures.
The move comes amid continuing violent events that have affected the reputation of sports in the country, prompting the authorities to intervene quickly to stop these negative developments.
As part of efforts to ensure the safety of sports matches and prevent the recurrence of violent incidents, the Libyan Football Association, in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, issued a decision prohibiting fans from moving between stadiums during matches organized by local clubs.
