Libya’s Attorney General, Siddiq al-Sur, issued an order to arrest and bring the head of the General Oil Syndicate, Louay Daoud, and the head of the Petroleum Facilities Guard, Abdul Razzaq al-Khurmani, to confront them on charges of inciting the closure of oil facilities.

Libya’s attorney general tasked a military force to head to the cities of Zawiya and Misrata to secure oil facilities and arrest individuals involved in illegal activities.

The moves come amid tensions in Libya’s oil sector, where the Petroleum Facilities Guard (PFG) has threatened to shut down all facilities in the western region of the country after a 10-day deadline they submitted to the authorities to meet their demands, which includes a 67% increase in their salaries

The announcement came despite the meeting of the president-designate of the National Oil Corporation, Masoud Suleiman, with the head of the Petroleum Facilities Guard, Abdul Razzaq Al-Khormani, on Sunday morning.
