A young volunteer mosque imam died Friday morning in the Egyptian governorate of Port Said, before performing the Friday sermon, after being stabbed by three brothers.
The incident took place as 40-year-old Mohammed Ahmed Auf was preparing for a Friday sermon, where a minor argument took place between neighbor’s children and his mother, leading to heightened tensions.
It quickly developed when a neighbor summoned his siblings, leading to a clash that led to Auf being fatally stabbed.
The Egyptian security authorities were able to arrest the defendants hours after the incident, and the body was deposited for autopsy before burial.
Eyewitness statements were collected, and the crime scene was examined while the victim’s mother demanded justice, expressing confidence in the Egyptian judicial system to restore her son’s right.
