The British finance minister, Jeremy Hunt, said in an interview with the British radio “BBC” that the attacks of the Yemeni Houthis on civilian ships in the Red Sea may affect the economic situation in the United Kingdom.
Asked if “disruptions to maritime traffic in the Middle East could lead to higher prices in the UK?” “This effect is possible, and we will follow this very carefully.”
It is noteworthy that the Houthis had previously announced their intention to target Israel and its ships passing through the waters of the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, in response to its escalation in the Gaza Strip until the Israeli army stops its operations.
According to data from the U.S. Armed Forces Central Command, the Houthis have attacked more than 20 ships in the Red Sea since mid-November
