The US Central Command operating in the Middle East confirmed the downing of an anti-ship cruise missile, launched by the Houthis, at dawn on Monday, from Yemen towards the US aircraft carrier “Labon” in the southern Red Sea.
The command explained, in a tweet on the “X” website, that a US fighter jet carried out the operation to shoot down the missile in the waters of the Red Sea off the coast of Hodeidah, stressing that no injuries or damage were recorded.
In this context, the Houthis have vowed to respond to the US and British strikes, in which Washington has previously denied participation.
These events come within the framework of the current escalation in the region, where the United States and Britain have launched dozens of strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen with the aim of limiting their ability to carry out attacks on commercial ships in the Red Sea.
