The Prime Minister of the Libyan Government of National Unity, Abdel Fattah Dabaiba, signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkish Defense Minister Yaşar Guler in the Turkish city of Antalya, which included cooperation in military fields to raise the efficiency of the Libyan army.

The meeting focused on strengthening military coordination and developing Libyan forces through advanced training programs, according to the “Our Government” Facebook page.

Within the framework of the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance military cooperation between the two countries, where Dabaiba stressed the importance of strengthening cooperation between the Presidency of the General Staff of the Unity Government Forces and the Turkish Ministry of Defense as one of the main priorities, and the importance of implementing advanced training programs to raise the efficiency of Libyan army personnel.

For his part, Turkish Defense Minister Yasar Guler praised the level of military and security cooperation between his country and the unity government in Libya, stressing progress and organization in various aspects, stressing the continuation of coordination and fruitful cooperation between the two sides in this context.

It is noteworthy that in October 2022, the Dabaiba government signed a memorandum of understanding with Turkey in the field of hydrocarbons, during the visit of a high-level delegation from Ankara, which included the ministers of foreign affairs, defense, energy and trade, in addition to the National Security Advisor, Head of the Presidential Communication Department and the Chief of the General Staff.
