The Egyptian national team announced the duration of the absence of its captain Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool after he was injured in the match against Ghana on Thursday, in the African Cup of Nations held in Ivory Coast.
Salah left, before the end of the first half of the Pharaohs’ match with the Ghanaian national team, which ended in a draw (2-2). A statement issued on the official page of the Egyptian Federation said that Mohamed Salah underwent medical rays that proved that he had a pull in the back muscle.
“Salah will miss the team’s next two matches in the African Nations against Cape Verde, and then the final price match if they qualify,” the statement added.
Thus, Salah will not participate again in the tournament, unless Egypt reaches the quarter-finals on February 2 or 3.
Egypt will play Cape Verde on Monday at the end of Group B of the African Cup of Nations.
Egypt drew in the first two rounds against Mozambique and Ghana by one score (2-2) in both meetings and needs to beat Cape Verde to ensure qualification to the final price.
