The executive director of the Egyptian Football Association Walid Al-Attar denied rumors about the absence of Mohamed Salah from the friendly camp of the national team next March.
There was much speculation about Salah after he was excluded from the next national team camp, despite the resumption of playing with Liverpool, especially after medical reports that talked about his injury.
Liverpool officials have called for Salah’s gradual return to play, in line with his desire not to join the Egyptian camp this month.
The story began when Hossam Hassan, the coach of the Egyptian national team, included Salah in the list of foreign players for the camp, after which Salah’s name was withdrawn from the list at the request of Liverpool, within the framework of cooperation between the club and the national team to ensure the comfort and stability of the player and his readiness for the global stage.
Ashraf Sobhi, Egypt’s sports minister, pointed out that Salah suffers from a recurrent hematoma, which requires time for a full recovery, and stressed the importance of Salah for Egyptian football and mutual agreement on the best course of action.
Salah is expected to join the squad during the international break in June, to be ready to lead the team in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Expectations for Salah’s return after his recovery journey are increasing, as the public’s interest in him and the keenness of sports officials in Egypt confirms the importance of Salah’s presence in the national team.
