The Egyptian Armed Forces issued a statement regarding the shooting incident between Egyptian and Israeli soldiers in Rafah.
The Egyptian military spokesman said, “The armed forces are conducting an investigation through the competent authorities into the shooting incident in the Rafah border area, which led to the martyrdom of one of the personnel in charge of insurance.”
The Israeli army spokesman, Avichay Andrae, announced that the shooting incident occurred on the Egyptian border, and that an investigation is underway in this regard, indicating ongoing communication with the Egyptian side.
The Israeli Walla website reported that two Egyptians were killed in an exchange of fire with the Israeli army at the Rafah border crossing, while the Egyptian side has not issued any comment yet.
The Israeli newspaper “Maariv” revealed that one Egyptian soldier was killed during the clashes that took place between the Egyptian and Israeli armies at the Rafah crossing, noting the escalation of violence and tension on the border.
The Hebrew newspaper explained that Israeli army soldiers clashed in an exchange of fire with Egyptian soldiers after the Egyptian soldiers opened fire on Israeli army forces, and communications were made with the Egyptians to cease fire.
Earlier today, Israeli Channel 14 reported that Egyptian security forces opened fire on an Israeli truck at the Rafah crossing, and Israeli army soldiers returned fire.
