The Vice-President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Malik Agar, heads to Russia on an official visit that will last a few days.
Agar is expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin and deliver to him a written message from the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, related to issues of “bilateral and military cooperation and all common issues.”
This is the first time that the head of the Transitional Sovereignty Council has sent a direct message to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
In a related context, Al-Burhan informed the United States of his country’s rejection of American interventions regarding Sudan’s relationship with Russia.
Al-Burhan stressed that “this matter concerns Sudan and its sovereignty, and they will not allow any external party to interfere in it,” in response to US Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, requesting that Al-Burhan not conclude an agreement with Russia.
It is noteworthy that the Assistant Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces and member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council in Sudan, Lieutenant General Yasser Al-Atta, confirmed that his country’s authorities “do not mind” granting Russia a military logistical support base in the Red Sea.
He said that there was “an agreement with Russia for economic cooperation in exchange for supplying the Sudanese army with Russian weapons.”
He added, “Russia offered us military cooperation and support and supplying the army with weapons, and we offered them economic cooperation in the field of mining and exploration. We will sign an agreement with them, and a delegation headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Sovereignty Council, Malik Agar, will go to Russia soon,” he said.
