Referees have suspended a Tunisian Volleyball Cup match after a fan was pronounced dead in the stands while watching the match in which his son is participating.

The clash between Hammam Lif and Saidia Sidi Bou Said was interrupted on the night between Wednesday and Thursday after the death of the fan, the father of Hammam Lif player, Mourad Boukrouma, after suffering a sudden heart attack in the third half of the clash.

The club’s management and players expressed their shock and deep sadness at the death of the fan, stressing solidarity and sympathy with the player Mourad Boukrouma and his family in this difficult moment.

Hammam Lif Club mourned through its official account on “Facebook” the late fan, describing him as an official in the club’s volleyball team, as well as being a loyal fan and the father of one of the most prominent players.

The club pointed out that the loyal fan, Abderraouf Boukrouma, died of a sudden heart attack while watching the match in which his son was participating, as all attempts to rescue him failed.

It should be noted that the incident led to the immediate suspension of the match, and that the date of the replay of the match will be determined at a later date.
