The incident shook Egyptian society, as a heinous crime was discovered in a village belonging to the Shubra al-Kheima district in Qalyubia governorate, where a child was found horrifically murdered.
The incident is believed to be linked to what is known as the dark web, a part of the internet used for illegal purposes.
According to the investigations, the main crime engine was an Egyptian citizen residing in the State of Kuwait, who directed an outlet to kill the child and brutally film the scene for a large sum of money.
After investigations, it was found that the main purpose of the crime was to sell scenes of murder and dismemberment via the dark web.
The dark web is a conducive environment for illegal activities, as it is used to promote drugs, human trafficking, and electronic extortion, in addition to facilitating the planning of terrorist acts, and the dark web provides complete confidentiality to those involved, making it difficult for the authorities to combat it.
This incident demonstrates the urgent need to raise awareness of the danger of the dark web and tighten control over it, as governments and enforcement agencies must cooperate internationally and share information to combat these criminal activities online.
