The leadership body for the coordination of civil democratic forces in Sudan chose two vice-presidents, Abdullah Hamdok, a rapporteur for the body, and a secretary-general of the coalition.
The leadership body was chosen during the founding conference held in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, after internal consultations led by Hamdok to complete the coalition institutions.
The leadership body chose Al-Hadi Idris and Hiyam Muhammad Bushra as vice-presidents, and Ashiri as rapporteur of the body, in addition to Siddiq Al-Sadiq Al-Mahdi as Secretary-General of the coalition.
The coordination spokesman described these steps as being consistent with the selection of two vice-presidents, the body’s rapporteur, and the secretary-general.
The selection of two women in high-ranking positions is considered a positive sign of the trend towards consensus among the coordination components.
The leadership body is expected to choose the executive office in the coming days, in addition to selecting the specialized committees.
It includes a coordination committee that advances political forces, resistance committees, trade unions, professionals, and armed movements, and works to end the war through peaceful means and pressure to conduct a political process.
