The Foreign Ministers of the Collective Security Treaty Organization issued a call to all Libyan parties to continue consultations to create the appropriate atmosphere for holding free and fair elections.
During a meeting held in Kazakhstan, the ministers expressed their full support for the political process in Libya, which is led by the Libyan forces with the support of the United Nations, stressing the need to preserve Libya’s unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In their statement, they expressed their concern about the current situation in Libya, which has been characterized by instability for more than a decade, stressing their commitment to supporting the country’s stability and progress.
It is noteworthy that the Collective Security Treaty (CSTO) is an international military and security alliance established in 1992, after the collapse of the Soviet Union, and includes a number of countries that were part of the former Soviet Union, namely: Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, and Tajikistan, which withdrew. From the coalition in 2012.
The countries of this treaty seek to enhance security and defense cooperation among the organization’s member states, and also work to provide a framework for political consultation between member states and coordination of foreign and defense policies, with the aim of providing a unified response to common security challenges.
