On Sunday, the head of the Libyan Presidential Council, Mohamed Al-Manfi, received a written letter and an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, delivered by Special Envoy Liu Jian during his meeting in Tripoli.

The media office of the President of the Presidential Council said that the invitation includes attending the China-Africa Forum scheduled to be held in China next September.

The letter referred to several important issues concerning the two countries, including the Chinese position on the genocidal campaign against Gaza, and China’s call to hold a comprehensive international conference for peace in the Middle East, according to the office.

China renewed its commitment to its principled position on the Palestinian issue, calling for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state and its recognition as a full member state in the United Nations, according to what was reported by the office.

During the meeting, the Chinese envoy presented a summary of the work of the Arab-Chinese Forum, which concluded recently, and delivered an invitation to Al-Manfi to attend the China-Africa Forum in September.

The office explained that Al-Manfi sent a verbal message with the special envoy of the Chinese President, Liu Jian, to President Xi Jinping, which included an emphasis on the depth of historical relations between the two countries, as well as a renewed call for the return of Chinese companies to complete the suspended projects and contribute to reconstruction.

Al-Manfi also thanked China for its support for those affected by the devastating floods that swept the city of Derna and the Green Mountain areas as a result of Storm “Daniel” in September 2023.
