The Russian Ambassador to the Central African Republic, Alexander Bekantov, confirmed that the Central African Republic is interested in strengthening dialogue with Russia in the field of fuel.

Bekantov said, “The Central African delegation to the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum 2024, headed by Prime Minister Felix Molwa, discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in several areas.”

He added, “The issue of interaction in the field of fuel was also discussed, and our partners confirmed their interest in enhancing dialogue in this field.”

Bekantov explained that the two sides have not yet concluded any contracts regarding the supply of fast-burning fuel to the Central African Republic from Russia.

Media reports earlier spoke of negotiations between Russia and the Central African Republic about supplying the latter with 30 tons of fast-burning fuel.

Earlier this month, the Russian Ministry of Natural Resources announced that Russia and the Central African Republic had agreed, as a result of a meeting between Russia’s Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Dmitry Titenkin and the Central African Republic’s Minister of Major Works and Strategic Investments, Pascal Bidou Kouyagbeli, to prepare a joint memorandum between the two ministries for cooperation. In the field of investing in underground resources.

The ministry stated in a statement that, “As a result of the meeting, the two parties agreed to begin developing a joint memorandum between the two ministries that would establish a legal basis for cooperation in the field of investing in underground resources.”

Titenkin explained that coordinated work between relevant Russian departments, organizations and companies with partners in Central Africa will strengthen and expand existing relations between the two countries in the field of geology for investment of underground resources.
