The technical observer of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Mohamed Grimida, announced a surprise of great caliber over the lifting of the ban imposed on Tripoli International Stadium 10 years ago.

“There is a high-level delegation from CAF that will arrive in the coming hours in the Libyan capital Tripoli in order to inspect the stadium, in order to lift the ban on Tripoli International Stadium, which is ready in its new form to host international matches for the national team and teams, after two years of maintenance and development work,” said Grimida in a press statement.

“The delegation will start on Thursday with an inspection tour to Tripoli International Stadium, to determine its readiness to receive foreign matches, and the visit will continue for two days, provided that CAF issues its decision after the committee submits its report on the accreditation of the stadium within a week of the delegation’s return, to lift the sports ban imposed on the country for more than 10 years due to the security situation in Libya,” he said.

Grimida confirmed that the stadium has fulfilled all the observations made during the visit of the CAF delegation in 2021, and expressed his optimism that the ban on Tripoli International Stadium will be lifted after the new developments that took place in it.

It is noteworthy that Tripoli International Stadium was officially opened in its new look last March, after two years of maintenance and development work, and is now ready to host international and continental matches with a capacity of 45,000 spectators, after it was subject to the conditions of “CAF” for international accreditation.
