The Arab League Council affirmed its support for the joint efforts made by Qatar and Egypt to reach a permanent ceasefire and restore life to normal in the Gaza Strip.

This was stated in Resolution No. 9059 issued by the League Council meeting at the level of permanent delegates in its extraordinary session, which was held at the request of the State of Palestine.

The Council warned of the continuation of genocidal crimes committed by Israel in the Gaza Strip and plans to annex West Bank lands and settlement expansion.

The Council condemned Israel’s refusal to abide by the resolutions of the Security Council and the International Court of Justice related to the ceasefire and the protection of civilians.

The Council called on the international community and the Security Council to intervene decisively to stop Israeli crimes and prosecute Israel for its violations. It also condemned the aggressive policies followed by Israel to prevent the independence of Palestine, including legitimizing settlements and undermining the powers of the Palestinian government.

The Council affirmed that implementing annexation plans constitutes a war crime and called on the international community to take punitive measures against Israel, calling on the General Secretariat of the Arab League to implement the Arab Summit decisions to include extremist Israeli organizations on terrorist lists and boycott companies operating in the settlements.

The Council reaffirmed its rejection of Israel’s plans and its support for Palestinian efforts to assume governance responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and East Jerusalem, and efforts to establish peace within the framework of a vision based on ending the occupation and embodying the independence of the State of Palestine on the 1967 borders.

The Council assigned the Arab group in New York to study steps to freeze Israel’s participation in the United Nations, and condemned the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and Syria, stressing its support for these countries in defending their lands.

The Council praised the international and popular positions in support of the Palestinian cause and called on countries that do not recognize the State of Palestine to recognize it. It also condemned Britain’s obstruction of international justice through its positions before the International Criminal Court.

The Council asked the Councils of Arab Ambassadors and the missions of the Arab League abroad to work to achieve the contents of this decision and assigned the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States to follow up on its implementation and submit a report thereon to the next session of the League Council.
