The Algerian delegation withdrew from the conference of the Arab Organization of Young Lawyers held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in protest against the display of a map of Morocco that included Western Sahara.

This came after the organizing authorities responded to the demands of the Moroccan delegation to correct the map, which was displayed truncated as a result of a technical error.

The incident began when the Moroccan delegation objected to the map used at the conference, which excluded Western Sahara from the geographical map of the Kingdom, which prompted the organizers to seek help from other sources to correct the map based on the data available through the Google search engine.

Correcting the map and offering an apology to the Moroccan delegation aroused the dissatisfaction of the Algerian delegation, which reflects the position of its government in support of the Polisario Front, and which saw the presentation of the amended map as support for the Moroccan position on the Sahara issue, which prompted them to withdraw from the conference.

Western.

Morocco considers Western Sahara an integral part of its territory and has proposed expanded autonomy within the framework of its sovereignty, while Algeria supports the right to self-determination for the Sahrawi people through a free and fair referendum under the supervision of the United Nations.
