Areas near the Libyan capital Tripoli are witnessing a new wave of security tensions, this time in the city of Zawiya, where armed clashes have taken place between outlaw groups.
Local sources confirmed the death of the child Mohammed Naji Al-Ghwail as a result of being wounded by a stray bullet during the clashes in the city, where Al-Ghwail was wounded by two bullets in the head and foot while he was at his home, and he was transferred to the hospital and admitted to the intensive care room.
The clashes took place between a group called “Al-Kabouat” affiliated with Othman Al-Lahab, commander of the 103rd Battalion, known as “Al-Sila’a Battalion”, and members of the “Al-Madadha”, resulting in the injury of 3 other people, the destruction of a number of cars and the cutting of a number of electricity wires in the area.
In the aftermath of the clashes, the so-called “course correction movement” in Zawiya al-Kubra and the West Coast military zone called for neutral intervention to end security tensions in the city.
The Hirak described what is happening as a “farce”, pointing to the tense security situation in the region, and criticizing the attitude of the government and tribal sheikhs towards the events.
It is noteworthy that the city of Zawiya is witnessing frequent clashes, as similar confrontations occurred in February between the forces of “Aburas” and the forces of “Al-Qasab”, two of the largest forces controlling the city and stationed inside it.
