According to press reports, more than 800 Sudanese women have joined Sudanese army recruitment camps to train in combat and shooting in the Flamingo military area of Red Sea State.

Sudanese women reportedly joined the battle camps to defend themselves from Sudanese Armed Forces (RSF) attacks, due to the fact that many women were subjected to physical and sexual violence.

The participation of women in combat training is reportedly part of a call for public alert launched by the Sudanese Armed Forces to train women and men to carry weapons.

Training camps for women and girls were launched in River Nile State in northern Sudan, involving more than 200 women and girls between the ages of 17 and 50, before extending to other states.
