The meeting was a clumination of a number of former meetings and phone contacts between the two leaders as the expelled member of the Sovereign Council al-Hadi Edris.
Kabashi is considered one of the military who support a negotiated solution for the war in Sudan, a matter that subjected him to attacks by war supporters.
Kabashi and Dagalo meeting was facilitated by a number of countries including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates and United States, according to the sources.
The meeting agreed that the RSF should not proceed to Sinnar town, neighbouring Wad Madani city which was controlled by the paramilitary last month, in consideration of Egyptian fears the attack may harm Sinnar Dam on the Blue Nile, the sources revealed.
Kabashi-Dagalo meeting is expected to pave the way for a direct meeting between leaders of the two warring parties, the Sudanese army chief Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and the RSF leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti”.
The meeting between the two generals was decided first by the East African Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) which was sponsoring a negotiated solution for the war in Sudan.
But the decision was aborted by the Sudan status quo government which has officially suspended its membership in IGAD.
The sources expressed worry that al-Burhan may succumb to the Islamists who support continuation of the war and thus loosing this opportunity for resumption of Jeddah talks which are facilitated by the United States and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
