The General Command of the Armed Forces issued a press release today regarding the fire that destroyed the Sahel and Sahara Bank tower.
The statement said: “In a continuation to their destructive approach to public and private facilities and targeting civilian objects in the country, the Rapid Support Forces on Monday set fire to Sahel and Sahara Bank tower in Khartoum, causing it to burn down completely.”
Statement added: “The armed forces indicate that the scope of the Rapid Support Forces’ violations of international humanitarian law has expanded since its ill-fated rebellion to include all types of war crimes against civilians, protected properties and civilian objects, which necessitates its classification by regional and international organizations as a terrorist organization.”
The tower is one of the main landmarks in the capital, Khartoum, and includes the headquarters of a number of private and public companies, in addition to the Sahel and Sahara Bank.
