The Sudanese government on Thursday summoned its ambassador in Nairobi for consultations, objecting to the official reception given by the Kenyan government to the commander of the Rapid Support Forces in Sudan, Lieutenant General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, during his visit to Nairobi.
Sudan’s Foreign Minister-designate, Ali al-Sadiq, said in a statement that this reception comes within the framework of the Kenyan government’s forgetfulness of the terrible violations committed by Dagalo’s forces, in addition to the damage to infrastructure and property of citizens in Sudan.
The minister explained that the consultation process with the ambassador includes all possible possibilities regarding the future of relations between Sudan and Kenya, which have witnessed increasing tension during the recent period due to Sudan’s accusations of Nairobi bias in favor of the Rapid Support Forces.
The conflict in Sudan between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces began in April 2022, resulting in a large number of deaths and the displacement of millions of people.
Dagalo visited several African capitals recently, drawing condemnation from the Sudanese authorities.
