Sudan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy Ramtane Lamamra that Sudan rejected the phone call between Secretary-General António Guterres and RSF commander Mohamed Hamdan Daglo (Hemedti) as a “rebel.”

Foreign Minister-designate Ali al-Sadiq said on Saturday: “We reject this contact with the leader of a movement that has committed egregious violations that have been condemned by some UN institutions and the majority of the international community.”

Al-Sadiq told Lamamra that “the contact between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the RSF commander is rejected by the Sudanese street and provokes the anger of the people.”

Sadiq said: “I explained to Ramtane Lamamra the reasons that led to the outbreak of the war, the atmosphere before it, the impact of the framework agreement and the rapid support movements,” according to the official “SUNA” news agency.

Al-Sadiq explained that the “rebellion”, which means rapid support, was aimed at overthrowing and seizing power, and when it failed, it resorted to an all-out war against the state and against citizens and their property.

Al-Sadiq assured the UN envoy currently in Port Sudan of his government’s readiness to sit down and reach a negotiated solution, as stated in the Jeddah Agreement, and continued: “We explained to the envoy the humanitarian situation and asked him to appeal to the United Nations and donors to provide humanitarian aid.”
