Khartoum called on the UN Security Council on Saturday to take responsibility for countries that supply Sudan’s Rapid Support Forces with weapons and political and media support, in a bid to curb the continuation of the war.

The Governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko, referred to the unity of the Sudan, denouncing the reliance on foreign hands to achieve power.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sudan issued a statement confirming its follow-up to the report of the United Nations Observer Group on Darfur, which highlighted the involvement of the Rapid Support Forces in carrying out ethnic cleansing and genocide, accusing the armament suppliers of violating the relevant Security Council resolutions.

In another context, international media reported that a United Nations report revealed that between 10,000 and 15,000 civilians were killed in West Darfur state last year, as a result of ethnic violence carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and allied militias, calling on the Security Council to designate those forces as a terrorist group and hold the countries providing support accountable.

The Foreign Ministry also called for accountability for financial networks and businesses linked to the RSF.
