The ‘Sudanese Doctors’ Network revealed a harsh toll of artillery shelling carried out by the Rapid Support Forces in the city of El Fasher in North Darfur State, confirming the killing of 257 citizens during the past two months.
The network reported in a statement that the ongoing attacks also led to the destruction of a number of hospitals and medical facilities, which further complicated the humanitarian situation in the region.
The network denounced what it described as the “inhumane” behavior of the Rapid Support Forces, noting that the intense artillery shelling of the city and surrounding villages and camps for the displaced not only threatened the lives of thousands, but also led to the destruction of vital infrastructure, as the statement stated that more than 700,000 citizens depend on these health facilities.
On the other hand, the “El Fasher Resistance Committees” reported that the shelling had recently resumed after a period of relative calm, resulting in more casualties and injuries in the Abu Shouk camp for the displaced.
