The Libyan city of Benghazi will host a football football forum with the participation of Libyan football figures, after the Eid al-Fitr holiday, with the aim of promoting communication, developing sports, and rejecting fanaticism.

Counselor Ezzedine Al-Gharabi said that society relies on old sports figures to play a prominent role in national reconciliation and reunification, given their respect and appreciation of society in general.

He added that the program of the forum includes holding a friendly match to remind of the importance of these sports symbols, in addition to paragraphs dealing with sports, cultural and social aspects.

For his part, the head of the forum’s media committee, Zine El Abidine Berkane, pointed out that this forum will add a great imprint on the history of Libyan football, and will highlight the contributions of old players to the development of sports locally and internationally.

He explained that invitations will be extended to sports experts from academics, media, coaches, administrators, referees, and those interested in Libyan football to attend the forum.

Berkane stated that the activities of the forum will continue for three days, as the first day will be dedicated to holding a scientific symposium that includes the morning and evening periods to present research papers and come up with recommendations of interest to Libyan sports.

On the second day, field visits will be held to some administrative facilities for visitors, while the final day will be dedicated to an exhibition match for veterans.

This initiative comes in the context of the renaissance witnessed by eastern Libya at various levels, whether economic, social, or even sports.
