Sudanese Freedom and Change Democratic Bloc announced receiving an official invitation from the government of South Sudan to hold consultations with President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit ,in Juba this month. Discussions will address the possibility of stopping the ongoing war in Sudan.
Consultations were held in Cairo, as Head of Freedom and Change Democratic Bloc Jaafar al-Mirghani, met with Security Advisor to South Sudan’s President Tutkew Gatluak Manime, in the presence of a number of members of the bloc.
Democratic Bloc, which includes political forces, armed movements and civil groups, is loyal to the army and plays a role in the Sudanese government.
Democratic Bloc Spokesman Mohamed Zakaria, stated that the bloc “received an official invitation from the advisor to the President of South Sudan to visit Juba during January to discuss stopping the war and consulting on the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue.”
This call comes in the context of Government of South Sudan’s efforts to end the war in Sudan, as it confirmed its readiness to host a meeting that includes all Sudanese parties to reach a solution to the current situation.
Last December, the President of South Sudan Salva Kiir Mayardit informed the Secretary General of the Popular Congress Party about the idea of overcoming Sudanese differences through a meeting in Juba without exceptions, with the aim of reaching a solution to the difficult situations in the country.
Last November, a high-level delegation from the Democratic Bloc ended its visit to South Sudan, where extensive meetings were held with Sudanese leaders, as part of regional efforts to mobilize support to stop the violent escalation.
