Yesterday, Wednesday, South African Supreme Court Chief Justice Raymond Zondo presided over the swearing-in ceremony of the new national unity government in Cape Town.

The new government includes the Vice President, along with 32 ministers and 43 deputy prime ministers from different parties, who joined the African National Congress in forming the national unity government, after it lost its parliamentary majority in the elections of last May 29.

The previous government included 30 ministers within its previous formation.

President Cyril Ramaphosa announced the formation of his government on Sunday, after weeks of negotiations and negotiation of ministerial positions with 11 partners. While Paul Mashatile retained the position of Vice President, Ronald Lamola was appointed Minister of International Relations and Cooperation.

Ramaphosa also retained Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana in his position, while appointing his political rival, John Steenhuisen, leader of the Democratic Alliance, the second largest party in government, as agriculture minister.
