Luke Fleurs, defender of South African club Kaizer Chiefs, was killed after receiving several bullets in his body during a failed kidnapping attempt in the Gauteng area of Florida.
The 24-year-old was fatally injured, according to reports published by the British newspaper “The Sun”, citing sources close to Kaizer Chiefs.
The kidnapping attempt reportedly failed, as Fleurs was shot while trying to steal his car, and the club has not yet issued a statement about the incident.

Flores is among South Africa’s brightest defenders, represented the Olympic team, and although he did not appear for Kaizer Chiefs, his death is a huge loss for the football community.
Luke Fleurs made 70 appearances for SuperSport United, scoring twice, after joining the squad from Ubuntu in July 2018.
