The Somali Federal Government forces and the Dervish forces, affiliated with the Lower Jubba region in the state of Jubaland in southern Somalia, headed to the Badadi area, where Al-Shabaab fighters are based.
The military officials leading operations against Al-Shabaab in Badadi explained that their goal is to liberate the area and remove the movement’s members from it.
Local residents in the area are concerned that a battle could break out at any time, which indicates that both sides are seriously preparing and that there are intense movements and preparations.
The allied forces recently took control of the Boluhaji area and expelled Al-Shabaab fighters, which control Jubaland.
In another context, the President of Galmudug State, Ahmed Abdi Kareh “Gor Gor,” arrived in the areas located in the northern Galgadud region of the state, which witnessed violent battles between two rival clans in the Balanbal district, with the aim of stopping these battles.
“Qor Qor” opened a peace conference in which sheikhs and notables from both sides of the conflict participated, where they discussed the importance of reaching a quick solution and lasting peace between the two clans.
The two parties reached an agreement that stipulated a “ceasefire and the withdrawal of militants” from the areas where the battles took place, and the participation of both sides of the conflict in a meeting that will be held in the city of Dosmarib, the capital of Galmudug state.
Violent battles took place between tribal militias in the Galgadud region, resulting in large human losses, in which more than 50 people were killed on both sides, forcing government forces to intervene to separate the warring clans.
