Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities in implementing the resolutions of the UN Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly related to the situation in the Gaza Strip.
During his meeting with British Foreign Secretary David Cameron, Sisi pointed to the importance of working seriously and determined to achieve a just settlement of the Palestinian issue, through the implementation of the two-state solution.
According to the Spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, Minister Cameron handed the Egyptian President a letter from the British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, in which he congratulated the Egyptian President on his re-election, stressing his country’s keenness to continue strengthening cooperation and coordination with Egypt in various fields.
The meeting dealt with ways to develop bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on increasing joint investments and trade exchange, and reviewed cooperation efforts in multiple fields, especially at the economic level, in order to benefit the interests of the two peoples.
In the context of the meeting, the two sides discussed developments in the regional scene, where the British Foreign Secretary thanked Egypt for its efforts in maintaining security and stability in the region, and its efforts on the political and humanitarian tracks in the context of the current situation in the Gaza Strip.
They stressed the need to reach a sustainable ceasefire and provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza, rejecting the displacement of Palestinians and expanding the circle of conflict in the region.
