The Libyan municipality of Sirte has taken measures to confront the phenomenon of encroachment on government real estate, including investigating cases of infringement, issuing judicial arrest orders, and removing violating buildings.

Sources in the municipality confirmed that a number of buildings and shops in various areas of the city were removed, in implementation of the orders of the Public Prosecution, which ordered the removal of manifestations of infringement on government real estate.

The demolitions included shops and residential buildings built on violating government land, in addition to residential buildings built on land allocated to the Sirte Security Directorate, shops built in areas designated for public parks and green spaces, and others built in violation of urban planning rules.

The municipality affirmed its determination to take all necessary legal measures to ensure the rule of law and protect the rights of the state and citizens.

The municipality called on all citizens to cooperate with the competent authorities and report any cases of infringement on government lands and real estate, in order to preserve the capabilities of the country and its property.

These measures are part of ongoing efforts to combat encroachment on public property and preserve government property in Sirte.
