The “SOS Mediterranean” organization announced that one of its ships rescued 110 individuals off the coast of Libya. They were aboard an overcrowded rubber boat, including more than thirty minors.

The stricken boat was first reported via an alarm phone, a phone number called by migrants facing difficulties crossing the Mediterranean, and then the ship’s crew was able to find the boat, the IOM said in a statement.

Among those rescued during this complex operation were 11 women, including two pregnant women, a one-year-old infant and more than thirty minors, most of whom were from Ethiopia and Eritrea.
