Egyptian artist Sherine Abdel Wahab recently experienced a severe psychological crisis, which led to her admission to a psychiatric hospital to receive treatment.
This step comes after a series of violent disputes and quarrels with her ex-husband, Hossam Habib, which led to a significant deterioration in her psychological state.
Art critic Maha Matbouli explained that Sherine’s family, especially her mother and brother, insisted on the need for her to receive treatment as a way to save her from the crisis she is going through.
The family expressed their fears about Hossam Habib’s interference in the matter, and his attempt to remove her from the hospital, which might expose her to more problems.
In a related context, Sherine had submitted her statement to the Public Prosecution for the second time, regarding the incident of Hossam Habib beating her, where she submitted a medical report proving the injuries she had been exposed to. The report revealed numerous injuries, including bruises and wounds in different areas of her body.
A video spread on social media showing Sherine in a hysterical state destroying Hossam Habib’s studio, which sparked widespread controversy about the nature and causes of this crisis.
On the other hand, Hossam Habib denied the accusations against him, claiming that Sherine was the one who destroyed the studio after he intervened to resolve a dispute with her daughter.
Hossam Habib asked the prosecution for the testimony of the artist Sherine Abdel Wahab’s daughter to hear her statements about the beating incident, according to what was published by local media.
According to Record No. 7155, Sherine stated that she visited the audio recording studio that she owns in partnership with Hossam Habib. While she was there, she asked Hossam to break up the partnership and give her percentage in the studio, but she was surprised that Hossam beat her, insulted her, and expelled her without giving her personal belongings, which were a handbag containing a sum of money and her own mobile phone.
