Abdelhamid Dabaiba, head of Libya’s interim unity government, confirmed for the first-time secret talks with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, commander-in-chief of the Libyan National Army.
Dabaiba said in remarks circulated by local media that his representatives met with Haftar’s representatives in the UAE to discuss ways of cooperation.
Dabaiba explained that this is not only the concern of the UAE, but also many countries that seek to achieve consensus between the Libyan parties.
Dabaiba said his government supports any rapprochement between the two parties, noting that his dispute with Haftar continues, without elaborating.
