A retired Chinese citizen, passionate about history, discovered secret military documents among books he bought for as little as $0.8 from a recycling center.

The Chinese authorities indicated that the Ministry of National Security is investigating the incident, which included the sale of about 200 secret documents by their weight instead of their real value.

The Chinese citizen, Zhang, who found the books, realized their importance when he noticed the secret seal on them, so he quickly informed the authorities, who began examining the books and discovered that they were sold by former employees of a military unit in which they worked.

The documents contained sensitive information that was supposed to be destroyed according to official procedures but was accidentally released.

The security authorities opened investigations into local and foreign consulting companies in the country for possessing economic data.
