German media revealed a horrific rape incident committed by a member of the Albanian national team’s coaching staff during its participation in the European Cup (Euro 2024).
According to reports, the incident occurred in the hotel where the Albanian delegation was staying, where the assailant forced a hotel employee to enter the dishwashing room and sexually assaulted her on June 23.
The incident was immediately reported to the police by one of the victim’s colleagues at the hotel, and the Dortmund Public Prosecutor’s Office confirmed that an investigation had been opened into the incident.
However, despite the serious charge, the defendant left German territory the next day after his country’s exit in the first round, without an arrest warrant being requested against him.
The Albanian Football Association moved quickly and suspended the accused, indicating that he is not a player or a high-ranking official.
It is noteworthy that the Albanian national team exited the Euro 2024 tournament after obtaining only one point from a draw with Croatia and losing to Italy and Spain.
