Education Minister Yousef Al-Benyan announced the Kingdom’s readiness to open branches of Russian universities during a meeting with a Russian delegation in the capital, Riyadh.
According to the Russian news agency “RIA Novosti,” Head of the Middle East and North Africa Studies Section of the School of International Regional Studies, HSE University and Vice-Chairman of the Association of Russian diplomats Andrei Baklanov confirmed country’s desire to enhance cultural and scientific ties, especially with prominent Russian universities, such as a partnership with the Higher School of Economics (HSC university).
Baklanov pointed out that several bilateral documents are currently being prepared, including agreements on mutual recognition of university degrees.
He explained that the Advisor at Fund for support of Islamic culture, science and education, Aleksey Petrov, participated in talks with the minister, sharing their assessments of the meeting with the head of the educational sector in Saudi Arabia.
At the end of the meeting, the minister hailed Russia’s interest in Islamic education, confirming the Saudi side’s readiness to enhance cooperation with Russian counterparts in this area. It was agreed to continue bilateral communication coordinated by Russian Embassy in Riyadh.
