A delegation from the Sudanese Civil Democratic Forces Coordination (TAQADUM) discussed with the President of South Sudan, Salva Kiir Mayardit, at the presidential residence in the capital, Juba, the ceasefire efforts in Sudan between the army and the Rapid Support Forces.
The delegation explained to President Salva Kiir the developments of the crisis in Sudan and the worsening humanitarian catastrophe in light of the continuation of the war since April 15 and the threat it represents to Sudan’s slide towards civil war, total chaos, and partition.
The delegation presented the vision of the Coordination of Civil Democratic Forces, which emphasizes the importance of stopping the war as a top priority to address the humanitarian catastrophe and initiate a peaceful political path to address the accumulated national crisis issues and agree to address them in a way that leads to preserving the unity of Sudan, achieving sustainable peace, justice and development, one national and professional army, democratic civilian rule, and implementing the slogans of the glorious December revolution.
For his part, President Salva Kiir expressed his deep regret for the continuation of the war in Sudan and the humanitarian catastrophe it caused and the threat to the unity and stability of Sudan, noting that the existence of any crisis in Sudan automatically means its presence in South Sudan by virtue of common ties.
Kiir stressed that South Sudan sees the need to coordinate and integrate international and regional efforts to stop the war in Sudan, and that it will continue its efforts with the leadership of the armed forces and the Rapid Support Forces and with the leaders of the international community in order to accelerate the ceasefire reached.
