Russia’s revenues from the sale of energy resources increased significantly in the first half of this year, reaching 5.7 trillion rubles, equivalent to about 64 billion dollars.
This increase represents a 70% increase compared to the same period last year, 2023.
The Russian Ministry of Finance explains this rise mainly due to the high prices of Russian “Urals” oil, as it was sold at prices higher than the limit imposed by the West, which was $60 per barrel.
Revenues also exceeded expectations by 700 billion rubles in the first half of this year.
According to the Russian Ministry of Finance report, the volume of oil and gas revenues from January to June increased by 68.5% compared to the same period in 2023.
Expert analyzes indicate that the West’s attempts to limit Russia’s revenues from hydrocarbon resources have not been successful, and there are expectations that the United States may back off from imposing new sanctions on Russian oil exports for fear of rising gasoline prices on the American market ahead of the presidential elections.
