The Russian Ministry of Defense reported on Sunday that it had thwarted an attempted drone attack by Ukraine, and 36 drones were destroyed in various regions of southwestern Russian territory during the past night.
The statement published by the ministry on the Telegram application stated that Russian air defenses destroyed 15 aircraft in the Kursk region, adjacent to the border with Ukraine, and nine other aircraft in the Lipetsk region, located several kilometers south of Moscow.
The reports also included the destruction of four aircraft over the Voronezh region and the same in Bryansk, in addition to the destruction of two aircraft in each of the Oryol and Belgorod regions.
On the other hand, the governors of Lipetsk and Bryansk confirmed via Telegram that the attacks did not result in injuries or serious damage.
Ukraine uses different types of drones, the most important of which are the Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2, which carries anti-tank guided missiles, and the Ukrainian-made Swan drone, which is used for reconnaissance and artillery guidance, in addition to the Vogel drone, which is of Ukrainian manufacture and is used to collect intelligence data.
Ukraine also used the Regent drone, an Israeli-made suicide drone, used to destroy ground targets, and the Kamikaze, a home-made suicide drone.
