On Wednesday, Anna Evstigneeva, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations, called for increased international support to the countries of the Central African region.
“We are seriously concerned about the challenging humanitarian situation in the region. Statistics on refugees, internally displaced persons, and those in need of some form of humanitarian assistance highlight the need to increase support to the Central African states. This is particularly relevant to the situation in Sudan and the extensive challenges faced by neighboring states due to the conflict,” expressed the official at the UN Security Council meeting.
The Russian deputy ambassador emphasized that regional states should play a key role “in the issues of crisis prevention and conflict resolution” with the necessary international support. “For our part, we will continue to support the UN organizations working in the region and provide Central African countries with the necessary assistance on a bilateral basis,” added the diplomat.
