Ukrainian soldiers report that continued Russian attacks on the strategically important eastern city of Chasev Yar are hampering the rotation of Ukrainian forces and the delivery of supplies.
These attacks come as part of the Russian army’s efforts to take advantage of its numerical and armament superiority before the arrival of new Western reinforcements to the Ukrainian forces, which have already begun to flow to the front lines.
Chasev Yar, which is located west of the city of Bakhmut, is considered a strategic location due to its high location and is now the focus of fierce battles between the Russian army and Ukrainian forces.
Last year, the Russian army took control of the city of Bakhmut after a 10-month battle.
Ukraine is trying to stabilize parts of the front line, which extends for about 1,000 kilometers, especially after Washington agreed in April to provide vital military aid to Ukraine, but a 6-month delay in the arrival of American aid led to the Ukrainian forces being forced to take a defensive position.
Soldiers of the artillery brigade at Chasev Yar confirmed that American ammunition supplies had begun arriving at the front lines.
In other locations, the Russian army continued precision bombing using powerful slide bombs, as local officials said that 3 air strikes targeted civilian infrastructure in Kharkov, in the northeast of the country, on Tuesday, without causing casualties.
Russian authorities announced on Tuesday that Russia had launched 42 slip bombs on Kharkov during the past 24 hours, increasing pressure on forces in the region.
