Russian border guards thwarted a Ukrainian infiltration attempt into the Kursk region on Tuesday, acting governor of the region Alexei Smirnov announced.

Smirnov confirmed, in a statement published on his “Telegram” channel, that information received from the Sudzhansky and Korenevsky districts indicated attempts by Ukrainian forces to infiltrate the region.

The border guards of the Russian Federal Security Service, in cooperation with the Russian Armed Forces, prevented these attempts to breach the border.

Smirnov warned against the spread of misleading information, calling for relying on official sources to verify the accuracy of the news, and not to be drawn into provocations.

He also mentioned that in March, reconnaissance and sabotage groups of Ukrainian forces attempted to infiltrate Russian territory several times in various areas, including Odnorobyovka, Nekhotivka and Spodaryushino in Belgorod region, and the village of Titkino in Kursk region.

Russian intelligence quickly discovered these attempts, and Russian forces launched missile and artillery strikes, which resulted in the failure of the infiltration attempts and the enemy suffering heavy losses in personnel and equipment.

Since February 24, 2022, the Russian Armed Forces have continued to carry out a special military operation to protect civilians in the Donbas region.
