A plane belonging to the Russian Ministry of Emergencies arrived in the city of Benghazi, carrying humanitarian aid to the northeastern areas of Libya affected by Cyclone Daniel.
On September 10, several areas in eastern Libya were hit by the devastating Hurricane “Daniel”, which reached a speed of 180 kilometers per hour, and was accompanied by huge amounts of rainwater, as this led to the collapse of two dams in the city of Derna dating back to the seventies of the last century, while entire neighborhoods disappeared, and the collapse of the two dams caused great destruction and thousands of deaths and injuries, in addition to the loss of large numbers of civilians.
A member of the High Council of State, Mohamed Moazeb, stressed that “the disaster of Hurricane Daniel is the largest disaster that has passed over modern Libya, and local official sources have confirmed that the volume of loss of life has reached 40,000.”
