Russia rejected US accusations against it regarding its alleged violation of the international sanctions regime imposed on Libya.
The Russian Deputy Representative to the United Nations, Anna Yevstignyeva, said during a meeting of the UN Security Council on Wednesday: “We recall that Russian-Libyan cooperation, traditionally built on friendship, is implemented taking into account all international obligations and does not contradict the provisions of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.”
Yevstignyeva explained that attempts “to manipulate Libyan internal disputes and spoil relations with our partners will not succeed.”
Yevstignyeva added: “As for the negative impact on the situation in Libya, no one should compete with the United States and some European countries in this field, given what was committed in the country and the region in 2011.”
These statements came in response to the US representative’s accusations against Russia of violating the sanctions regime imposed on Libya by UN Security Council resolutions.
